Over the past years, the burgeon of radical reaction has gained considerable momentum. Indeed, the radical transformations heavily depend on in-situ generation of reactive radical species that are initiated by the oxidants, metal salts, visible light photocatalysis or electrocatalysis and so on. In this regard, numerous radical enabled bicyclization and annulation with 1,n-bifunctionalization have been developed, providing efficient synthetic strategies for the assembly of functionalized cyclic rings containing both heterocyclic and isocyclic skeletons. In this review, we highlight the recent progress in this rapidly growing area by presenting a series of catalytic oxidative reactions, mechanisms and applications appeared in latest literatures.
